Hermès Designs a Captivating Installation at La Pelota
French fashion house Hermès designs a beautiful installation across the floor of the La Pelota venue located in Milan. It uses reclaimed bricks, marble, terracotta, and slate to bring attention to the house's artisans' heritage during Milan Design Week. The installation takes place annually and last year, attention was brought to light structures and latticed cages but this time, the attention is on the floors. Hermès home artistic directors Charlotte Macaux Perelman and Alexis Fabry create the surface of over 20 varying organic materials.
Perelman explains the design concept, stating "The intention was to show the connection with the earth, with the ground, and the connection with the legacy of Hermès. In the project, we also tried to put across the idea of slowness, of the path to get there, like a journey – not to show the objects therefore in the first part of the cinematography, but to allow for the passage of the path to get there to give people the time to discover these objects."
