Musoni's tagline is "Next Generation Microfinance." Social Business has written before on microfinance and also on its ubiquity and challenges as a very, very fashionable way to provide financial services to the poor. Put together with another au courant approach to what has come to be known as "emerging markets," that is to say, mobile technology and cellphone use, Musoni attempts to tackle a whole breadth of issues.
The organization currently works in East Africa, and the venture started from two initial pilot projects in Kenya and Tanzania in 2008 and 2009 respectively. People noticed and in 2011, Musoni BV was awarded "most innovative use of technology" by the Global Microfinance Achievement Awards in Geneva.
