In honor of Twitter's eighth birthday, which was on March 21st, Mashable created an infographic that looks at some of the most popular Twitter accounts, their ever-growing numbers of followers and their first tweets.
As it stands, Katy Perry is the most popular user on Twitter, with over 51.3 million followers. In second and third place comes Barack Obama and Justin Bieber, respectively. Although the top 10 list is made up of some pretty powerful people, it's not all celebrities, surprisingly. Two brands that have managed to stake a claim in the top include YouTube, with over 40 million followers and Instagram in the number nine spot with 30 million followers. It's also interesting to see the total number of tweets these popular users have, some of which are not much more than the average person on Twitter.
