A client and architectural historian named Harriet taps the help of local design studio So Architecture to create a textural extension of her home, thus naming the project Harriet's House. It is located in Launceston where the Georgia-style home gets two dated extensions replaced near the rear. The cottage is defined by its vaulted ceiling clad with wooden slats.
Inside the home are living, dining, and kitchen spaces that look to the back garden. Associate at So Architecture, Liz Walsh notes "On a micro level Harriet's desire for privacy, sanctuary and retreat drove the project from the beginning. The architecture employs thick brick, service and storage walls to edit the neighbouring properties and focus the plan towards the garden."
