Berry Global Group and Mars have announced a new partnership that will see the latter brand utilizing the former brand's packaging prowess to give some of its familiar brands an eco-focused overhaul. The packaging update will see several Mars brands like M&M's, Skittles and Starburst shifting to 100% recycled plastic packaging, except for the lids, for its pantry jars. The packaging update will reportedly eliminate the use of more than 1,300 metric tons of virgin plastic on a year basis.
Vice President of Food, Beverage & Spirits Peter Goshorn spoke on the Berry Global Group and Mars partnership saying, "As companies across the globe commit to transitioning to a circular economy, the ability to deliver products made with recycled materials at scale is crucial. That’s why we’re collaborating with leading brands, like Mars, to significantly increase the use of recycled content to drive responsible business growth without compromising performance or aesthetics.”
