Plastipak and Kraft Heinz have announced a new partnership that will see Kraft Real Mayo and Miracle Whip containers switched to a 100% rPET design as part of a shift towards sustainability.
The packaging update will reportedly eliminate roughly 14-million pounds of virgin plastic material and reduce overall carbon emissions on a yearly basis. The 100% rPET containers are food-grade and come as part of the brand's commitment to cutting its virgin plastic use by 20% by 2030 across its global packaging portfolio.
General Counsel & Chief Legal and Corporate Affairs Officer Rashida La Lande commented on the Plastipak and Kraft Heinz partnership saying, "We are investing in innovative technologies and partnerships that are critical to helping us redesign packaging, eliminate unnecessary plastic, increase our use of recycled content, and influence the adoption of reuse models. This is one more way we’re renovating our product portfolio to not only offer more sustainable options, but to deliver on our consumer expectations.”
