From Driverless Robotaxis to Collegiate-Focused Electric Bikes

This list of September 2022 autos trends reflects the continued push from many automakers toward the creation of electric bikes and other micro-mobility solutions. Companies release e-bikes with different optimizations toward range, speed, stability, aesthetics, and more. Aside from this, self-driving and solar-charging technologies have become more popular in vehicles this month, with new competitors entering the market.
One of the most notable e-bike releases this month is the Discover 1 from Velotric. As opposed to placing its emphasis on delivering industry-leading performance, Velotric aimed to make the Discover 1 a visually pleasing e-bike that fits the aesthetic of college students' Instagram profiles. As such, the bike has a sleek design that foregoes bulky parts in exchange for minimalism, straight edges, and excellent geometric angles on the step-through frame. The Discover 1 is currently discounted for the return to school, serving as an excellent option for students' daily commutes across the country.
On the smart vehicle side, Lyft partnered up with Motional to bring a self-driving robotaxi to market. The 'IONIQ 5' vehicle is capable of driving autonomously, which Lyft hopes to develop a large fleet of. Lyft and Motional stated they plan to "introduce millions of riders to driverless technology" through the use of these IONIQ 5 vehicles.
