Ciguë Draws Design Inspiration from Car-free City Concepts
A new electric bike shop opened its doors in Paris, France. Belonging to Cowboy, which is an "e-bike brand aimed at the urban cyclist, the aesthetic of the retail space draws on contemporary sensibilities and a bike-forward future. The interior was designed by the local studio Ciguë.
Ciguë envisioned what a car-free future for urban environments might look like and used this as the starting point for its electric bike shop interior design. The landscape of the retail space is rather minimalist. It employs forms, materials, and sensibilities that are "organic and fluid, free from the angst-inducing presence of cars." For example, limestone blocks are installed as seating for guests, while raw earth covers the walls and ceilings. Ciguë also created a winding concrete walkway that may remind one of a cycle path.
