From Alluring Androgynous Attire to Finger-Flashing Editorials

The heroin-chic captures highlight a style popular in the mid-1990s. This look was the opposite of the healthy and lively advertising seen in Claudia Schiffer and Linda Evangelista editorials.
This look was characterized by pale skin, thin frames, gaunt expressions, androgyny and cynical looks. At this time, heroin use was on the rise due to its availability and popularity among the middle and high class. Heroin chic was a drug-addicted look that was featured in the 1993 Calvin Klein Obsession ads that featured Kate Moss.
This style began to fade after the drug-induced death of the young and gifted photographer David Sorrenti. This look may be blamed for glamourizing drug use, but this mix of hipster, punk and chic into one form is still quite fascinating.
