From Gymnasium Laminate Art to High-Fashion Art Malls
Riley von Niessen — February 26, 2017 — Art & Design
These February 2017 art trends reveal the evolving nature of the creative world, as designers look for fresh ways to garner the attention of the public and convey meaningful messages to them.
The 'From Selfie to Self-Expression' art exhibit is one example of this. Located at the Saatchi Gallery in London, England, the innovative displays were created in collaboration with electronic product producer Huawei. Artwork from both professionals and amateurs from around the world will be debuted, with any who wish to have their selfie featured able to submit to the gallery's website. The purpose of the exhibit is to explore the evolution of self-expression by comparing the different forms of portraits throughout time.
Also featured in these February 2017 art trends are the graphic renditions of senior quotes that the students from the IDEA School of Design created. After pairing with willing participants from the Silver Harbour Seniors' Centre, students interviewed them so that they could garner useful and unique life advice. After summarizing the advice into a condensed quote, the students transformed it into a colorful poster to reflect the lives and interests of the inspiring seniors they spoke with.
