From Elevated Housing Domes to Functional Micro Apartments
Laura McQuarrie — August 30, 2015 — Eco
While monster homes never fail to make people stop, stare and dream of moving in, many of the top August 2015 home designs are attracting attention for the exact opposite reasons. Micro house designs like the 270 square foot Skyscraper pod, the 140 square foot Polish apartment by Szymon Hanczar and YUUA's 1.8 meter-wide dwelling unit prove to be not only super small, but ultra efficient living spaces.
As well as shrinking the amount of land space they consume, many tiny houses are also putting an emphasis on being more self-sufficient in general. The BI(h)OME and the mobile cabins offered through Getaway are examples of practical designs that are both eco-friendly and affordable.
The interiors of homes are also getting thoughtful sustainable treatments with products like the solar-powered SUNplace table and the FLOR modular carpet system.
