METRO Germany launched a vegan egg roll as an alternative to hard-boiled eggs that can be used in hot or cold dishes. Unlike many vegan eggs that mimic the look and shape of a real egg, this one is round, long and ready for slicing. Still, the yolk-like and white components offer a visual likeness to traditional chicken eggs.
Olaf Koch, ex-chief executive of METRO, said "The food industry is facing a significant change. Greatly altering consumer requirements paired with the need to use our planet’s resources more responsibly will lead to an unprecedented wave of innovation."
NoPokPok, the name of the new vegan egg alternative, is one of many new vegan products that promises to change the way people enjoy salads, sauces, sandwiches and more.
