MAD Designs the ZGC International Innovation Center
Amy Duong — June 15, 2024 — Art & Design
Global architecture firm MAD introduces a look at the completed ZGC International Innovation Center. It is located in Beijing and is defined by the curved green roof on top that is further accented by rippled overhangs. It is nestled in the Haidian district and the center is captivating through its organic structure and rounded corners.
This is reminiscent of the look of clovers that extend from the building envelope which function as shading on sunny days. The studio speaks about the design pro ject, stating "The center's biomorphic, clover-like form features a cantilevered roof characterised by soft, fluid shapes. The form floats overhead, providing shade from the sun, shelter from the elements, and a space for social interaction, enhancing the connection between people and the architecture."
