Kilchoman is Leveraging NFC Technology for Consumer Education

In partnership with Thinfilm, Kilchoman will soon be creating NFC whisky labels for its products, giving consumers the chance to educate themselves about the brand's products in an effortless new way.

The smart hangtags that accompany the brand's two flagship whiskies—Machir Bay and Sanaig— will feature Thinfilm's NFC SpeedTap technology, which may be used to launch engaging experience with just the tap of a mobile device.

The Islay distillery was launched in 2005 and sets itself apart as the first one to be established on the island in over 124 years. As Kilchoman Distillery's Anthony Wills describes: "We fully recognize the importance of connecting directly with our customers and providing experiences that are informative, educational and interesting." For Kilchoman and many other brands that are embracing smart labels, NFC technology provides a means of engagement that is simple and streamlined.
