The "We Are Flowers" art installation by SOFTlab is created for footwear manufacturer Melissa known for their designer collaborations with English fashionista Vivienne Westwood. Inspired by a floral forest, the sculptural art piece covers the label's NYC Flagship Store.
This collaboration between the New York-based design studio and Brazilian footwear brand translates the company's 2014 campaign, also entitled "We are Flowers" into an sensory spatial element for the shop's visitors.
The studio builds their installation using translucent flowers that are created out of vibrantly coloured polyester elements. The pieces are woven into a structural surface made of Mylar.
Displayed inside the 565 square meter gallery, the hanging garden leaves a visual impression on Melissa's consumers and loyal brand followers.
