Although Hellmann's made headlines last year for trying to a sue a company making vegan mayo, now it seems that the brand is giving in to public pressure with a dairy-free sandwich spread of its very own.
Catering to a growing demand for dairy-free products, Hellmann's is now producing its own vegan mayo. The spread is designed to mimic the same rich and creamy taste of Hellman's, but without eggs, artificial colors or flavors. Instead, the plant-based spread is made from wholesome, non-GMO ingredients in order to give consumers a dairy-free condiment alternative. As Hellmann's Marketing Director Russel Lilly explains, the new spread is designed to "fit the needs and changing preferences of families, without sacrificing the taste and blue ribbon quality they've come to count on from America's favorite mayonnaise brand."
In keeping with Hellmann's original position that egg-free mayo is not technically mayonnaise, the new spread will be called 'Hellmann's Carefully Crafted Dressing & Sandwich Spread.'
