Australian architect Nic Brunsdon created the (This is) Air project, which is a large artful sphere that is able to inflate and deflate throughout the day. It is made for this year's National Gallery of Victoria Architecture Commission, which is located in Melbourne.
To create the project, the designer works together with the technology company Eness to copy the natural movements of breathing. Brunsdon speaks about the design concept to Dezeen, stating that "I want to reflect the collective memory about air and its role in our lives. I want to say something universal but highly specific. A sphere is a universal object and shape, it felt right in the space which is geometric and sharp, it's one surface, one volume and one structure."
