Space Caviar is a Genoa-based studio and this year, it turned audiences at the Venice Art Biennale with the Dixit Algorizmi: The Garden of Knowledge, constructed for the Uzbekistan pavilion. The structure is essentially an indoor garden, paired with reflective steel steps that create the illusion of depth.
The captivating pavilion draws inspiration from Baghdad in the 9th century. Space Caviar reference the House of Wisdom in this work. This is known to be an academic center "where medieval scholars, including the renowned Persian mathematician Muhammad al-Khwarizmi, studied."
Sea lavender is suspended from the ceiling of an old shipbuilding warehouse, which is one of the two main sites for the Venice Art Biennale. The overall installation by Space Caviar evokes a meditative sense.
