The British Ministry of Defense Unveils the Taranis Aircraft for Rescues
Meghan Young — July 15, 2010 — Autos
There is something suspiciously alienesque about the Taranis aircraft. Recently unveiled by the British Ministry of Defense as a combat plane concept, I have to wonder where their inspiration came from. 'Independence Day,' perhaps?
The Taranis aircraft won't need Will Smith or Jeff Goldblum to steer it, however. Instead, it will be computer-operated. And unlike those deathly alien ships, this airship will be saving lives rather than destroying them. Purported to rescue soldiers in combat, the Taranis aircraft will hopefully move from prototype to production in the near future.
