BAE Systems has gone ahead and unveiled an exceptionally versatile and high-tech VTOL drone that is designed to make it easier for military operations to carry out multi-domain operations with the help of a singular UAV.
The 'STRIX' is a VTOL drone that BAE Systems has described as a 'hybrid, tandem-wing, multi-domain and multi-role' solution. In effect, this means that the drone can carry out a broad plethora of operations that run the gamut from surveillance and reconnaissance to air-to-ground assaults.
This particular VTOL drone can take off and land vertically, while it also boasts folding wings that make it easy to pack and transport. Elsewhere, the 'STRIX' has a hybrid power mechanism and can be operated in completely autonomous mode through BAE's proprietary Strix Vehicle Management System, with full ground station control ensuring protection of human crew.
