A new facility called the Sportscentre gymnasium, located outside of a suburb of Rotterdam, merges modern sports technology, equipment, and play areas with the natural environment to provide the best possible situation for all the athletes who frequent it. Designed by Dutch firm Koen van Velsen Architects, the center is designed to blend in with the surrounding environment, minimizing its visual impact while still allowing people to make use of the track and green belt that runs around the area.
The Sportscentre gymnasium's green-tinted brickwork subtly blends with the often overcast, forested surroundings. Further, the windows of the complex are all two-way mirrors that reflect the foliage.
Sportscentre contains several sports courts, a swimming pool, and a hall and cafe.
