Urlo Studios designs the Mocolí Sports Club, also known as the Club Deportivo Mocolí located in Ecuador. It is a gym and multi-sports club that is detailed with a glass and aluminum pavilion along with a composite facade. The gym is on Mocolí Island along the coast and it comprises various communal athletics houses with surrounding sports fields for members. The main pavilion is visually captivating and meant to garner functional relationships between key elements of the program.
Each embedded column is mounted with small sconces that illuminate upwards and downwards along the white structural members to highlight the supporting grid. The team speaks about the design, stating "The white metal structure enhances the lightness of the structure and highlights the rhythmic pattern that is generated on the facade. This configuration allows the project to blend into its surroundings, while its single height guarantees universal accessibility and reduces its impact on the landscape."
