Similac's Commercial Reveals the Realities of Competitive Parenting
Laura McQuarrie — January 29, 2015 — Lifestyle
This hilarious Similac commercial is being touted as one of the most "honest" parenting ads out there. Rather than taking an approach that's simple and heartwarming from the start, as you might expect from the claims about authentic representations of being a parent, the ad is dramatized, dividing up moms and dads into different clans based on their preferred parenting styles.
The Similac ad separates the working moms from the stroller moms, among other groups with totally different beliefs when it comes to raising a child. After a brawl begins to break out and an stroller starts racing down a hill, all of the moms band together to save the child. At the end of the ad, the many different mommy clans are brought together by what Similac calls "the Sisterhood of Motherhood."
