In preparation for the upcoming season of Silicon Valley, HBO partnered with Fooji, a brand delivery agency, to send pizzas to fans in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Fans looking to order a pizza simply had to tweet out #Sliceline and a pizza emoji -- the hashtag is a direct reference to the first episode in the series' fifth season. While not everyone was able to receive a free pie, those that did were also lucky enough to get a Sliceline branded box.
To bring the Silicon Valley stunt to life, Fooji partnered with EatStreet, a food delivery service, and worked with 90 restaurants across the three different cities. To make the drone deliveries possible, Fooji brought in Drone Dudes, however these drone based deliveries were only available in Los Angeles and San Francisco due to FAA regulations. By the end of the stunt, over 700 pizzas were delivered and HBO considered the activation a success that not only satiated fans hunger, but also added another 'Easter Egg' for fans to obsess over.
