While restaurants embracing BYOW/BYOB policies is not unheard of, others like Tutoni’s Restaurant are moving into self-serve bar concepts.
The new 'TT Bar' is named after the husband-and-wife owners Tony and Toni Calderone and aims to be a place where patrons of this farm-to-table Italian restaurant can pick up a wine without feeling pressured. To use the dispenser, consumers purchase a gift card and choose by ordering a one or three-ounce portion, or a full glass. In total, there are 46 types of wine to choose from, meaning that it can cost as little as a dollar for an ounce of wine in some cases.
As Toni Calderone describes: "It takes the intimidation off of everything. You can find out what you like without someone like myself or Bryan telling you what you should be drinking."
