There are dozens of modes of transportation that are currently used to fulfill deliveries, but DoorDash is an on-demand restaurant delivery service that's looking to the future by experimenting with robot delivery.
DoorDash recently launched a pilot partnership in Redwood City, California, with Starship Technologies, as part of a test to see whether or not the robots will be able to offer the same level of service as other modes of delivery.
These robots get around on city sidewalks and are said to be best for carrying small meals over short distances. The use of a robot eliminates several issues, such as finding parking, and allows its community of Dashers to focus on larger, potentially complicated orders that will bring them more money.
