JDE Peet's has announced new recyclable coffee packaging for the UK and Ireland markets as a way to prioritize a more eco-friendly product. The packaging update will include the Kenco, Tassimo and Douwe Egberts brands, which will see them shift from plastic varieties to paper that can be recycled from home. The packaging is reported by the brand to be made with more than 85% paper to accommodate curbside recycling, will maintain freshness for up to 15-months and contains 96% less packaging than the 200-gram glass jar alternatives for further waste reduction.
Marketing Director, UK and Ireland Roberto de Felice spoke on the JDE Peet's recyclable coffee packaging saying, "Research shows consumers want to embrace reusable and refillable packaging, 76% of shoppers are looking to recycle more – but ease of recycling can be a significant barrier. Our new packs will help empower consumers to make greener choices by making it easier to recycle and driving wider adoption of refills, reducing packaging waste and removing plastic from retail supply chains."
