Michael Hemsworth — February 3, 2022 — Eco
Sweden-based meat alternative product brand Oumph! has announced new recyclable cardboard packaging in a bid to help it phase out plastic in favor of a more eco-friendly alternative. The packaging helps the products to be easily stacked inside the freezer in less space, while also being ready to be recycled through municipal curbside pickups after use. The packaging will be launched across all the markets the brand is presently in with the UK, the Netherlands and Australia starting first and Sweden, Nordic countries, Ireland, Germany and South Africa getting it in the spring.
Co-Founder, Corporate Chef and Head of Innovation Anders Linden commented on the new Oumph! recyclable cardboard packaging saying, "Oumph! has an edge as a brand and we want that to be reflected in the packaging. We believe the new design will stand out in the supermarket freezers for consumers to easily find their favourite Oumph! product. With several new product launches planned for this year, the new cardboard packaging plays an important part as we continue to develop tasty, appealing and innovative plant-based food products."
