Pringles has launched a new campaign alongside a petition to rename the 'Kidney Garden Spider' to the 'Pringles Spider.' This is because the body of the spider resembles the Pringles brand logo almost identically. The spider has dark black markings that resemble the eyes, eyebrows, and mustache of the face on the Pringles logo.
Pringles launched a dedicated webpage for the campaign that has a bit of information on the Kidney Garden Spider as well as links to the Pringles petition and a link to a Pringles Spider adoption page. The adoption page allows users to view a gallery of different spiders with a brief biography, choose one to adopt, and download an adoption certificate for that specific spider. It is important to note that this feature is free.
With the petition, Pringles hopes to persuade the arachnid community to officially acknowledge the name of the Kidney Garden Spider as the 'Pringles Spider' going forward. The company will also give away large amounts of Pringles in celebration if the spider is officially renamed.
