Would it be too far-fetched to expect to see so-called “plus-sized” models working their stuff on haute couture catwalks or doing magazine covers anytime soon? I think so. But Harper’s Bazaar Australia took a refreshing leap of faith by featuring plus-sized model Crystal Renn in the editorial of its latest issue.
Snapped by Luis Sanchis, model Crystal Renn rocks lingerie, bustiers and strappy dresses. Pipeline points out that stylist Wayne Gross compared the Harper's Bazaar shoot to an 80's-era Terence Donovan shoot.
What's especially moving about Crystal Renn's editorial for Harper's Bazaar is that the model used to be anorexic. As a plus-sized model, she's living proof that true beauty lies within the ability to be comfortable in one's own skin.
My uninformed opinion is that size-zero waifs will continue to dominate major runways for the foreseeable future (Beth Ditto notwithstanding).
