BEEN London teamed up with Biophilica to create a prototype plastic-free bag that's estimated carbon negative, biodegradable, locally sourced, vegan and recyclable, plus it is made using the world’s first leather alternative made from urban plant waste collected from London parks. The luxury handbags make the most a brand-new material from Treekind that's fully circular and compostable.
As BEEN London Founder Genia Mineeva identifies, "his bag could really change the future of fashion. The main issue with leather alternatives at the moment is that they’re near impossible to recycle." The Treekind prototype made with "leaf leather" has been styled in the shape of the brand's best-selling Cecilia bag, which takes the form of a small, structured bag with an adjustable strap for wearing as a crossbody or removing and wearing as an evening clutch.
