NORM house is a residential oasis built by Canadian design firm Alain Carle Architecte. Crafted for a client who wanted their Montreal suburb home to embrace the irregular topography of their surrounding landscape, the home is in Baie'Durfe, Quebec.
This Quebecois suburb is filled with rich vegetation and a natural atmosphere, which inspires the design of the house. Designed with an orthogonal layout, this single-family residence breaks from the traditional notion of a suburban home. It is clean and muted and speaks to the dynamic outside landscape. The placement of openings and windows was meticulously oriented to highlight the outdoor foliage and natural play of light.
At first glance, the home may feel isolated and eerie, yet it was intentionally done in order to create a neutral backdrop for the dynamic family that resides in the home.
