Kombucha is quickly transitioning from a niche health beverage to a mainstream drink, which is being supported by new lines like No1 Kombucha. Created by former England rugby player Jonny Wilkinson, the kombucha drinks will be available from Sainsbury's in the UK in flavors including 'Passionfruit & Goji,' 'Ginger & Turmeric' and 'Raspberry, Pomegranate & Hibiscus.' Each of the drinks contain just 50 calories and are low enough in sugar that make them exempt from the recently implemented sugar tax in the UK.
Wilkinson discussed the new No1 Kombucha product release when he explained, "I have enjoyed the benefits of kombucha for years, brewing it at home with my wife and drinking it daily. Sainsbury’s is the perfect retail partner in which to launch my brand and achieve its goal of making kombucha genuinely accessible to people throughout the UK."
