As their reunion shows at London's O2 Arena began on July 1st, the British city is celebrating their homegrown comedy troupe with an ode to the famous Monty Python parrot sketch with this giant dead bird sculpture. After a ten day break, the shows will recommence for a final five nights starring original cast members Eric Idle, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Terry Jones and Michael Palin. Doing silly things for not so silly causes (the group has raised over £20,000 for five different charities), people around the world are celebrating their absurdity and achievements.
The Monty Python parrot sketch is clearly being referenced in this installment. Sculptor Iain Prendergast created the 50 foot fiber glass Norwegian Blue parrot (with lovely plumage), here photographed by Taylor Herring.
