McDonald's 'Package' Cleverly Pokes Fun at the Competition
Matt Ho — December 5, 2011 — Pop Culture
McDonald’s ‘Package’ is one of those very rare, clever ads that pokes fun at the competition in a witty, amusing way.
The McDonald’s ‘Package’ clip shows a little boy eating fries from the fast food chain in a playground. Unfortunately for him, there are a few older boys who take advantage of the pint-sized hero. Shrugging it off the first time, the protagonist continues to sit in the same spot trying to enjoy his meal only to have it taken away from him. Finally the boy uses a bit of misdirection by disguising his fries as Burger King’s, which immediately turns off the attention from the older kids.
While most adverts will blatantly announce why the company is better, this one builds up to that message which is an approach worth applauding.
