These celebrity portraits by Kim Dong Yoo are each made up of thousands of smaller portraits. The paintings are made completely by hand, which means Yoo must paint each individual little portrait until they form a bigger picture.
When viewed from far away one sees iconic faces such as John F. Kennedy or Michael Jackson; however, when one moves in closer, thousands of tiny faces begin to appear. Yoo sometimes makes the smaller portraits the same face as the larger one, but sometimes the smaller face is a different person. For example, one will see an image of Albert Einstein but closer up it will look like thousands of pictures of Marilyn Monroe.
