There can be a natural eeriness to old black and white photos if only that the concept of smiling wasn't invented back then (hardy har har), and now Kevin Weir takes this eeriness to the next level. He has collected archival photos from the Library of Congress and turned them into animated GIFs. But instead of just moving, Kevin Weir's images appear to be haunted.
From canon smoke materializing into a ghost and stealing the soul of a soldier to an old woman turning into a flock of ravens and an alien race on the move behind abandoned architecture, Kevin Weir's imagination runs wild in this series. Kevin Weir shares that he makes "black and white GIFs as a way to occupy myself during the downtime of an internship I had during grad school."
