Art has brought Iran and the United States closer together in The Seattle-Tehran Poster Show which opened last month at the Bumbershoot music and arts festival in Seattle, USA.
Who knew that posters could bring these two notorious enemies together?
Marking the first ever exhibition of contemporary Iranian posters in the United States, The Seattle-Tehran Poster Show is a collection of 50 posters from Tehran and 50 from Seattle with a wide range of cultural themes such as film, theater, music, and contemporary art.
The exhibit pairs one poster from Iran with another by Seattle designers, to show that unity can be achieved through art.
The exhibit is set to travel to Tehran in 2009 so that Iranian designers prohibited from visiting the US could get a chance to see it.
The show is a follow up to last year’s successful Seattle-Havana Poster Show, which bridged the gap between the American and Cuban graphic design communities.
