Fourteen artists have created new, politically provoking works for Migrate Art's latest charity auction and exhibition. The pieces are intended to s"shed light on the widespread destruction of crop fields in Iraq."
The artists who are partaking in this initiative are Antony Gormley, Conor Harrington, Yahon Chang, Jason Martin, Jules de Balincourt, Loie Hollowell, Mona Hatoum, Nathalie du Pasquier, Anish Kapoor, Rachel Whiteread, Raqib Shaw, Richard Deacon, Walid Siti, and Richard Long. They did not only share their creative perspective on the issue but also used special paint pigmented with ash from the fires, which Migrate Art had gathered. In a statement, the collective shares that “these destructive fires have been attributed to organized militia groups who are using them as an intimidation tactic – most likely ISIS."
In addition to the 14 original works, Migrate Art will also be putting up two limited edition screen prints Shepard Fairey for sale, using an ash-infused ink.
