Google Updated its Search Engine with a 'Highly Cited' Label
Colin Smith — March 31, 2022 — Pop Culture
Google has released a new update for its primary search engine that includes the 'highly cited' feature. The highly cited feature places a label over news articles, journals, press releases, and many other webpage types, that are cited frequently by secondary sources. This means current information, as well as credible information, will be easier to locate and access.
Google hopes that the highly cited feature helps users find the most relevant information surrounding hot-button topics as quickly as possible. Additionally, Google encourages its users to check whether or not a webpage has been verified. This verification label can help users critically evaluate which sources should be trusted, or which sources hold fringe opinions.
This new feature is currently only available for English users in the UNited States, but more languages and regions will receive the feature in the future.
