Hardware branding may not sound like it offers a lot of room for creativity, but Behance user Jessica Davey's branding strategy for the fictional company Harrison Hardware shows the possibilities for innovative and meaningful branding in this unique industry.
Davey was challenged to create a branding strategy based on inspiration from a single given object -- a humble nail. She decided to create a branding that added a modern twist to the welcoming feel of an old-school family-owned hardware store.
The resulting hardware branding features liberal use of rustic wood textures that evoke the classic hardware store. However, the brand's envisioned storefront logo also features the use of an eye-catching but not blinding green, with the company name and the words "Since 1954" standing out beautifully in pearl white. In Davey's own words, this hardware branding has "the feel of an old family-owned hardware shop with a modern twist".
