Morton Salt created a food waste AR app that helps people visualize the possibilities for items in the kitchen that seem past their prime for an intended purpose. Since 2016, reducing food waste has been an important cause for the brand and it ties in nicely with its product, which is used for flavoring and preservation.
The Erase Food Waste feature brings fruits and vegetables to life in augmented reality and users can choose recipes based on specific pieces of produce. For instance, there's the Staycation Smoky Paloma that makes the most of leftover grapefruit.
Morton CMO Denise Lauer says, "Our target consumer is a Millennial consumer. This is a unique way to reach them where they’re at in the kitchen, and really continue to modernize the experience that they have with the Morton brand.”
