Epic Games has announced the FNCS Invitational 2022 Fortnite competition, the game's first LAN event since 2019 due to the pandemic. BLAST announced a partnership with Fortnite in February to produce the entire FNCS broadcast schedule in 2022, so they will be in charge of producing the main event.
BLAST has recently expanded its services, moving away from solely focusing on CS:GO tournaments to producing Fortnite and FIFA events. The company commented on the event announcement, stating: "[We’re] passionate about leveling up esports and has been delighted to do this with FNCS over the last 12 months, with more to come. The reveal of this fantastic new set was another significant milestone in our journey, with the Finals taking place this weekend!”
The one-off Duos invitational event will occur November 12th-13th in Raleigh, North Carolina, and will offer a $1 million prize pool. The event signifies one of the first large-scale gaming events since the COVID-19 pandemic, acting as a trial run for future endeavors.
