Equal Exchange was founded 25 years ago and offers fair trade goods such as bananas, coffee, almonds, chocolate, olive oil and tea, produced my small farmers through creating long-term partnerships with worker co-operatives and other means.
They're a pretty big organization and have two cafes -- one in Boston and one in Seattle -- where the business is set up through what is called a worker-owned track. Equal Exchange was co-founded by Rink Dickinson who also acts as a co-director.
The organization is committed to the triple bottom line and considers how its products can be produced sustainable (economically, socially and environmentally) as well as through a direct manner.
