New York City-based architecture firm Mapos arranges an elongated building that stands out with its ultra-contemporary layout arrangement and its accessible grass-topped roof. The site of the project is located on a "lush hill overlooking a Long Island bay." The architects took account of the natural surroundings, fostering a secluded vacation home that seamlessly integrates itself in the narrative of the vegetative environment.
The elongated building enjoys an earthy palette that is, again, informed by the green surroundings. Moreover, Mapos includes an infinity pool, as well as a stepped terrace. The home is completed as a familial residence and the elongated building's aesthetic and layout surely communicate a strong modern vibe. To add another layer of artistic meaning, Mapos boldly references contemporary sculptor Richard Serra through compositions that contain weathering steel.
