New York-based design firm BarlisWEdlick has taken on a renovation project that expanded a Southhampton house to accommodate multigenerational living spaces and opens up views to the seaside. The home was originally built in the 80s and it overlooks the Peconic Bay.
The team updates the structure while retaining the materials for 'carbon sequestration' and connects the space with the site once again in a seamless manner. The principal of the firm, Alan Barlis speaks to Dezeen about how the team has approached the design process, noting, "We completely upended every part of the house and the site to improve light, views, and flow in and out of the house and landscape, as befits a home by the sea."
