A new donation cards feature on YouTube enables content creators to give back with every video view. It was recently announced on the YouTube Creator Blog that videos will be able to raise money for charitable causes in the United States. YouTubers can choose any 501(c)3 public nonprofit organization validated by the IRS to receive 100% of the profits donated by viewers. So far the donation cards are only available in the US, but there are plans to roll this function out to other countries soon.
During The Project For Awesome, an annual philanthropic event hosted by vlogbrothers Hank and John Green to use digital video as a platform to raise awareness for charities, the donation cards were implemented.
