Yelp has collaborated with GoFundMe in order to add a donation button that will help businesses that are struggling due to the outbreak of COVID-19. Many businesses are seeing a drastic drop off in customers, and others are having to close down unless deemed essential. The new donations button can be used for restaurants, bars, fitness clubs and more The donation button will be displayed on the profile of an eligible business.
Yelp is rolling out the feature for some of the most adversely affected areas, in order to ensure those owners begin to see some financial support. Following that the platform will look to roll it out to more areas within the next couple of days. Yelp and GoFundMe will also match donations up to a total of $1million USD.
