Alyson Wyers — December 10, 2015 — Social Good
To address the issue of college campus safety and more specifically gender-related violence happening at places of post-secondary learning, HeForShe recently held an global 'ideathon.'
The United Nations initiative aims to make men a part of the conversation for gender equality. Held on December 3rd, the event was hosted on social media platform Twitter as well as streaming site Periscope. Based in New York City, the international ideathon asked participants to brainstorm ways to end gender-based violence for students.
Three different teams made up of students and young professionals came up with three concepts for college campus safety. Based on a Twitter poll, 59% found the Safety Uni App would be most helpful. This results-driven campaign was not only engaging and interactive, but tangibly productive.
