Brock University's United Way Committee recently launched its annual Period Promise campaign by donating tampons, pads, cups, and other menstrual products to those in need. The collection drive took place from Monday, March 6 to Friday, March 24 earlier this year, with several donation locations spread across the campus.
This initiative aimed to raise awareness about menstrual product accessibility while supporting individuals in need within the community. The program also addressed the growing cost of basic personal care goods across Canada.
“Imagine having to choose between basic necessities, such as food and shelter, or safe period products,” said Colleen Whyte (BLRS ’97), Brock’s United Way Campaign Co-Chair and an Associate Professor with Recreation and Leisure Studies. Whyte also spoke about period poverty's impact on women across her community, Canada, and the globe.
